VERSAILLES RECORDS Launches 'Sex Drugs And Rock N' Roll' Clothing Line
August 24, 2005In the first quarter of 2006, Versailles Records will launch a clothing line, "Sex Drugs and Rock n' Roll Clothing". The first line will be made up of a t-shirt series comprised of the cover art from the label's various catalog of tribute albums, which include THE CULT, SATRIANI/VAI, VAN HALEN, BON JOVI, DAVID LEE ROTH, and forthcoming tributes to GUNS N' ROSES and MÖTLEY CRÜE. According to Versailles owner/founder Jake Brown, "A bunch of industry friends of mine have launched clothing lines over the years, and some did well but the exposure was too great for a long time to take the chance, so we steered clear of it for years. But we kept getting hundreds of emails from kids wanting to know where they could buy t-shirts of our album covers. Once some dude finally emailed wanting to make a tattoo image of the SATRIANI/VAI cover, I caved. We're looking to also do deals with some of the artists we've worked with on the tributes over the years for clothing lines of their own, probably starting next summer. We're also currently accepting image/concept ideas for t-shirts from rock and metal graphic artists/painters, so feel free to submit anything you want to [email protected]."
